Join Hagaman Memorial Library’s new Great Decisions Foreign Policy Discussion group. The December meeting will take place on Tuesday, December 20 at 6:00 p.m. at the Hagaman Library on 227 Main Street. Great Decisions is a national, civic-education program sponsored by the Foreign Policy Association that encourages participants to:
- Learn about U.S. foreign policy and global issues
- Discuss multiple viewpoints in a group setting
- Take part in a national opinion ballot survey on policy issues
Established in 1918, the Foreign Policy Association is a not-for-profit, education organization and sponsor of the Great Decisions program.
Discussion topics include Changing Demographics, Outer Space, Climate Change, Russia and the U.S., Myanmar and ASEAN, Quad Alliance, Biden’s Agenda and more! The topic of discussion on Tuesday, December 20 will be Myanmar and ASEAN.
The situation in Myanmar, including the coup by the military in February 2021 and the ongoing human rights crises, coupled with civil resistance by those opposed to the regime, has led to chaos in the Southeast Asian country. How are neighboring countries reacting, and what role will ASEAN play?
The group discussion leader and facilitator is David Thomas. David is a retired attorney with high level degrees including a Law Degree from Harvard, a PhD in Religion, and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science.
The group is free and open to young adults and adults.
