EHHS students have been entranced by the increasingly popular fantasy sport leagues in the last several years, but what is it?

Fantasy football is a sports league anyone can join, that takes place during the regular football season. In Fantasy Football, each person drafts a team based on players real statistics and the main goal is to draft the best possible team you can. Leagues are made up of 10-12 teams. An even number of teams is the most beneficial when creating a league. Different apps can help you to keep track of your teams and your will get a certain amount of points depending on each player’s performance.

Many of the students at EHHS participate in fantasy sports in their free time. “Fantasy Football gives me another reason to watch the game,” says senior Jack Angelo. Since fantasy football participants want to know how their team performed, it is often motivated to watch the games. Fantasy sports allows our EHHS students experience friendly competition outside of school. With the many fun advantages of fantasy sports league, there are some negatives as well. “Sometimes when I want to watch something, I can’t because [Jack] needs to watch the game to check up on their fantasy team,” says freshman Ella Angelo.

Those who win in their overall league can win many different prizes. Senior Rocco Lombardi says, “The winner can possibly win money or more importantly bragging rights.” 70% of EHHS students do not participate in fantasy football, while 30% percent are actively involved. The most popular fantasy sports at EHHS are baseball and, of course, football. Fantasy baseball takes place in the spring and summer during the regular baseball season.
